Zorah was born from the dream of a young aid worker in Morocco, Mélissa Harvey, who wanted to help the Berber women producing argan oil. Back in Montreal, she began selling her oil at the Jean-Talon Market, sharing with her customers the incredible topical benefits of argan oil. It was through a chance encounter at that same market with a renowned biochemist that Mélissa decided to take things further—combining science and nature to develop highly effective products that respect both people and the environment.

ARGAN OIL
Argan Oil
is produced from the kernels of the argan tree (Argania Spinosa L.), a species that is endemic to Morocco. The oil is widely used in cosmetic and skincare products thanks to its golden hue, nutty aroma, and pleasantly light texture. Argan oil was first introduced to North America in 2003 and has since grown significantly in popularity. In fact, by 2012, the Moroccan government planned to drastically increase production from roughly 2,500 tonnes (1,000 kg) to a whopping 4,000 tonnes (4,000 kg) of argan oil by 2020. Since then, the demand has only continued to increase.
From a composition perspective, argan oil is extremely rich in nutrients, like vitamins A & E, carotenes, squalene,
CoQ10,
melatonin
and a variety of plant sterols, which explain its reputation as a powerful natural antioxidant. Argan oil is also uniquely rich in oleic (
omega 9
) and linoleic (
omega 6
) essential fatty acids. In fact, depending on its sourcing, it can contain up to 35 to 40 % linoleic acid and 42 to 48 % oleic acid. This composition is mainly responsible for the numerous impressive skin, hair, and nail benefits that argan oil offers.
Benefits Of Argan Oil
Antioxidant & Anti-Inflammatory
Helps Fade Stretch Marks & Scars
Nourishes & Hydrates Skin
Normalizes Sebum Production / Oily Skin
Reduces The Appearance Of Wrinkles
Common Uses For Argan Oil
Argan oil is a wonderful addition to just about anyone’s natural beauty care regimen. It will help reduce skin inflammation while increasing moisture and is especially ideal for acne-prone skin since it helps regulate sebum production. People often use this oil as an anti-aging
serum
to keep fine lines and wrinkles at bay, as well as to protect skin from sun damage, improve skin texture and even out complexion. Argan oil makes a first-rate makeup remover and can expertly repair dry, cracked hands, feet, and lips. It is also highly nourishing for the scalp and hair and is excellent for deeply conditioning and taming frizzy hair. Last but by no means not least, this oil also makes a beautiful nail and cuticle treatment and can also be used as a carrier oil for
aromatherapy
in all sorts of DIY essential oil blends.
Final Thoughts
Argan oil can be purchased by itself and is frequently added to skin care products like creams, serums, toners, and face
masks, as well as haircare formulas such as shampoos and leave-in
conditioners, and scalp treatments.
When selecting your oil, make sure to look for one that is 100% pure and organic. It would be best if you also looked for one that is cold-pressed, unfiltered, and non-deodorized for optimal purity and to multiply benefits.
